Zelenski en Porosjenko vroegen Macron om gesprek, niet andersom

De gesprekken die de Franse president Emmanuel Macron vandaag had met president Petro Porosjenko en diens tegenstrever Volodimir Zelenski waren volgens een verklaring van het Elysée niet zijn initiatief maar op verzoek van beide Oekraïense politici. Voor Macron was het in ieder geval een goede gelegenheid om Zelenski te leren kennen. Hij informeerde dan ook naar diens plannen, mocht Zelenski de presidentsverkiezingen winnen.

De Franse president gaf na het gesprek geen uitleg, Zelenski wel. Die liet weten onder de indruk te zijn. Over het gesprek dat Macron met Porosjenko had, is nog niets bekend. Porosjenko sprak eerder vandaag al met de Duitse bondskanselier Angela Merkel die na afloop uitlegde dat zij alleen de Oekraïense president had uitgenodigd vanwege de veelvuldige contacten van beiden in de afgelopen jaren.
