Savtsjenko heeft zich gemeld voor verhoor

Nadia Savtsjenko heeft zich vanmorgen gemeld bij het hoofdkwartier van de staatsveiligheidsdienst SBOe om gehoord te worden over haar banden met Volodimir Roeban, hoofd van een organisatie die zich inzet voor vrijlating van krijgsgevangenen. Savtsjenko werd vergezeld door haar zus Vira die haar ook bijstond toen ze in Rusland gevangen zat. Het parlementslid kwam vanmorgen vroeg vanuit München aan in Kyiv.

Savtsjenko zei bij haar aankomst bij het gebouw van de SBOe dat zij zou proberen om de van wapensmokkel en aanzetten tot terrorisme verdachte Roeban op borgtocht vrij te krijgen. Zij zou zelf borg willen staan voor de man die vorige week met een grote wapenvoorraad werd opgepakt toen hij vanuit door de separatisten bezet gebied naar Oekraïne wilde rijden.

"I have never disowned anyone in my life, even being in Russian captivity. And I will not do this in Ukraine. I ask to release Volodymyr Ruban against my guarantees," Savchenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on March 15. In addition, he is suspected of plotting an assassination of the president of Ukraine and a number of top officials in Kyiv. Ruban has denied all charges, claiming he merely acted as a truck driver and knew nothing about the weapons hidden in furniture in the back of the vehicle. On March 9, 2018, Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky district court chose a preventive measure for Ruban – 60-day imprisonment without bail.
