Premier vraagt wegenbouwers niet meer toe te geven aan corruptie'

Premier Volodimir Hrojsman wil dat het afgelopen is met het wegsluizen van geld dat is bestemd voor het onderhoud van de Oekraïense wegen. Op een bijeenkomst met wegenbouwers waarschuwde hij dat die niet meer in moeten op de eis van bestuurders en ambtenaren dat er smeergeld betaald moet worden om opdrachten binnen te halen. ''Wie dat nog van jullie verlangt, moet daarvoor worden gestraft.''

''Het is belangrijk voor ons allemaal dat het wegennet verbetert, dat er onderhoud wordt gepleegd en dat dit ook goed gebeurt'', hield de premier de wegenbouwers voor. ''Of dat ook zo gebeurt, dat is voor een groot deel afhankelijk van jullie.'' Oekravtodor, vergelijkbaar met onze Rijkswaterstaat, is bezig een Wegenfonds op te zetten waarmee meer geld beschikbaar komt voor de aanleg van nieuwe wegen en het opknappen van slechte wegen.

"Construction and reconstruction of roads across the country are the priorities for the Government. For us, it is very important that the investment that we allocated for the construction, reconstruction of Ukrainian roads be utilized with quality," the PM stressed. He also noted that nobody had the right to demand bribes from contractors. The Government will review the use of funds allocated for the construction and reconstruction of roads, Volodymyr Groysman said. "My only interest is in a greater amount of quality roads in Ukraine. It depends on you. Those who have made you a criminal offer, I will find them and they will be prosecuted. This is the issue of principle," he said.
