Zachartsjenko's Klein Rusland wordt weggehoond

Duitsland en Frankrijk vinden dat Rusland het voorstel van separatistenleider Aleksandr Zachartsjenko om Oekraïne voortaan Klein Rusland te noemen moet veroordelen. ''Het is tegen de afspraken van Minsk in en het schaadt de onderhandelingen in het Normandische format'', reageert een woordvoerder van het Franse ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken die er aan toevoegde dat Rusland nu eindelijk eens moet doorpakken en een eind moet breien aan het oorlogsconflict in Oost-Oekraïne.

''De Minsk-akkoorden zoals die zijn ondertekend door Rusland en Oekraïne, gesteund door de Normandische Vier en de Veiligheidsraad van de VN, vormen uitsluitend de basis voor een vreedzame en duurzame oplossing van het conflict'', aldus de woordvoerder.

Ook Duitsland reageeert afwijzend op het Malorussia-project van Zachartsjenko. ''Hij heeft geen enkel recht van spreken. Wij verwachten van Rusland dat het dit voorstel onmiddellijk van tafel veegt en het zeker niet erkend'', wordt vanuit Berlijn gemeld. De Europese Unie zegt in een reactie dat het plan van Zachartsjenko, dat ook voorziet in Donetsk als hoofdstad en een verbod op politieke activiteiten gedurende drie jaar, niet strookt met de Minsk-akkoorden. Een woordvoerder van de Amerikaanse regering laat weten ''er geen woorden aan vuil te willen maken''.

Woordvoerder Dmitri Peskov van het Kremlin doet het hele plan af als een voorstel dat Zachartsjenko op eigen houtje heeft bedacht, terwijl de Russische hoofdonderhandelaar in Minsk Boris Grizlov meent dat het geen contsructieve bijdrage is en ook niet past bij de Minsk-akkoorden.

Earlier today, the German government has also condemned the creation of the “Malorossiya” project. “Zakharchenko has no legitimate right to speak for this part of Ukraine.We expect that Russia will immediately condemn this step, will not respect and recognize it," the statement by the German government’s press secretary read. It is, in particular, the implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia, Ukraine, and Moscow-supported separatists in Donbas. As UNIAN reported earlier on Tuesday, the so-called leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic ("DPR"), Alexander Zakharchenko, has announced the creation of a new separatist entity, "the state of Malorossiya," suggesting the introduction of a state of emergency in Ukraine for three years, according to Russia's news agency Interfax. Ukraine’s NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov believes that the statement by the terrorist leader testifies to the intention of Russian President Vladimir Putin to resume the advance of military aggression deeper into Ukraine, while the representative of Ukraine in the security subgroup on of the Tripartite Contact Group, Yevhen Marchuk, noted that Zakharchenko's statement was blocking the Minsk negotiation process on the Donbas settlement.
